Hi,
During the early years of the lives of Francoise Blin de Bourdon and Julie Billiart, there only was the possibility of being a nun or a stay at home mother, for women. Both had a passion for helping people, they became a nun. Sister of Notre Dame was the primitive spirit of both. They valued respect for all people regardless of age, gender, or social class.
Francoise Blin de Bourdon was born into an aristocratic family but did not let the luxuries and take her from focusing on those of the less social status. She didn't like to see the differences between how the lower class and how the aristocrats lived. Francoise cared for others and went by the principle of, "respect for all individuals regardless of age, gender, disability, or social class".
Julie Billart was born into the Third Estate and started to help the poor or the ones in need when she was very young. Julie had a passion for educating the poor, even when Julie was going through her own problems, she sill taught them everything she knew. She didn't like the fact that some people had so many more opportunities to learn and grow than others because of their social status.
Julie and Francoise were both able to help and change communities in the ways they could. Together they established a new order of Nuns called the Sisters of Notre Dame. Over 216 years later, the principles they established are still influencing many people today. They have taught me that whether one had money or not, you are still able to help people out in the world.
Thanks
